Hi! My name is Krista, and I'm in graduate school for metabolic biology. Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I'm reflecting on my PhD experience while I prepare for my defense and eventual graduation.
The name Unicorn PhD comes from a fellow student calling me a unicorn during my first year - as in, the rare PhD student with a well-rounded profile in work and life. You could say I spent the rest of my PhD trying to preserve that, and I learned a lot of things about reality along with biology along the way.
I've started this blog to spread some advice that I wish I had as a first year as well as to practice my writing skills. I hope you come away with something valuable!
